Alia of All Progressive Congress(APC) defeated Titus Uba of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with a wide margin
Also, Fr. Alia was returned elected after winning 22 out of 23 LG elections in Benue state. The vote scored by Alia was unprecedented in the history of Benue elections. The landslide victory of the March 2023 governorship polls in Benue was a testament to answered prayer
Subsequently, he was sworn into office as the executive governor of Benue State on 29th May 2023. However, his victory was not without litigations, but on January 8, 2024, the Supreme Court upheld his elections as duly elected governor of Benue state after dismissal of an appeal filed by Titus Uba of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
In less than one year in office, His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia was not deterred by the teething challenges he inherited, coupled with economic contraction and global instability, went further to liquidate his earliest promises
Smiles are gradually returning to the state because of the benevolence and the giant strides so far recorded by Governor Alia-led administration in Benue state
Civil servants who are a cross-section of the state now receive prompt payment of salaries, pensions, and gratuities. In the same vein, His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia is repositioning the state to drive rapid infrastructural development
